Does Your Child Receive 504 Accommodations at School? If so, OCR Wants to Hear From You!

OCR is planning to review and revise the Section 504 regulations. The current regulations have not been revised since 1977 and do not cover many situations children experience today. OCR is seeking public comment, especially about children on 504 plans who have experienced issues with:

  • Bullying and harassment
  • Restraint and seclusion
  • Suspension and expulsions
  • Disability documentation and accommodations in higher education
  • Participation in physical education
  • Interscholastic and intramural athletics
  • Independent living services

OCR has provided a press release with more information and instructions for submitting your comments. You can access the press release here: https://www2.ed.gov/policy/rights/reg/ocr/index.html
