Parent and family stories and testimonials were extremely effective in advocating for changes to the Parents as Paid Caregivers Program that AHCCCS proposed to send to the Centers for Medicaid and Medicare in June.
RSK is pleased with AHCCCS’s inclusion of a phased implementation process and added measures to ensure the use of parents as habilitation providers only as a last resort. This involves mandating individual workforce development plans and assessing criteria for extraordinary care.
Though we have lingering concerns over certain provisions of the program, Raising Special Kids is pleased to see this move forward and to start work on preparing for program implementation.
