Refugee and Asylee Mentorship Program (RAMP)

Through the Refugee & Asylee Mentorship Program, Raising Special Kids provides culturally appropriate supports and services to educate and empower refugee and asylee families. We provide them with the information and tools they need to understand the nature of their child’s disability, work collaboratively with professionals in the education and treatment of their child, and advocate effectively in the best interest of their child to support positive educational and health outcomes particularly as a result of and during the COVID-19 crisis. RAMP also seeks to decrease social isolation for refugee and asylee families with children with disabilities through direct parent-to-parent support.

HOW IT WORKS:

  • Case manager refers appropriate family to RAMP. (click here for referral form)
  • RSK family support specialist contacts family by the end of the next business day to discuss issues of concern with the family in their preferred language using high-quality interpretation services.
  • Family support specialist identifies areas of need and provides appropriate support, guidance and resources to the family. (i.e., educational/health care/parent-to-parent support).
  • RSK provides confirmation to case manager that their referral family has been contacted.
  • RSK remains ready to assist the family with future needs and concerns.

Refugee and Immigrant Service Provider Network (RISP-Net)
is a collaboration of refugee service providers in Arizona guiding refugees towards self-sufficiency. The purpose of this website is to provide the community with information, resources, and opportunities to benefit refugees, case managers, volunteers and more. RISP-Net will create a streamlined process for sharing public resources with the community and will provide community members with a centralized location to share resources, events, and contact information with community members.
