When the world was forced to adjust to a global pandemic, the changes needing to happen in a very short time were nearly staggering. As with many people and organizations, technology took center stage for Raising Special Kids. Staff adjusted to working from home, presenting 100% of our workshops online and helping their own children with online school.
With outreach events canceled, we were missing a powerful key component of the RSK magic—connecting with families in person! To try to remedy that, we turned to technology once again and began our Here With families, Here for Families Facebook Live series eventually adding a Spanish Facebook page and Facebook en Vivo events. What fun and valuable tools those events have become.
We’ve been joined by experts in medicine, assistive technology, DDD, ADE, and more. But most importantly, we’ve connected with families and discussed topics important to them.
Raising Special Kids will continue our weekly live sessions on Facebook and we’ve invited Executive Director Christopher Tiffany to help us introduce our newly dubbed Connecting Live/Conexión en Vivo series. Join us on April 16 and 23 respectively to hear from Chris on how he helps the staff at Raising Special Kids to “always keep the one thing the one thing.”
